Tomorrow is the big day! One of the items that you can bid on is a succulent garden for your very own. Terri hosted a planting party which resulted in these centerpieces for the tables. Here is how they looked when first done a month ago or so. It will be fun to see how much they have grown. See you at the auction!
Garden Club members who remember the wonderful Margery Heffron, who died all too soon in 2011, will be pleased to know that her biography of Louisa Catherine Adams, that she worked on for more than 30 years, has been published by Yale University Press. It has been greeted by glowing reviews in the New Yorker and in the both the daily and the Sunday New York Times, where it landed a spot on the coveted front page. A review in the New York Review of Books is due out soon. It is exceedingly rare and a great honor for a book by an unknown author and an “independent scholar” to receive this kind of attention.
On Tuesday, June 3, at 7 PM the Water Street Bookstore is hosting an event celebrating Margery’s achievement, “Two Admirable Women: Louisa Catherine Adams and her Biographer, the late Margery Heffron, Exeter Resident.”

The last meeting was a ton of fun what with the pot swap, tea tasting, yummy noshes, 5 guests and the main event – “Art in Bloom”. The Artful Arrangers, a.k.a our own talented members, was brought to you by the Design Committee. Thanks to Connie for all her hard work on coordinating this event. There were 7 inventive and very different vignettes of cherished objects and arrangements, which were presented by the makers. Here are some snaps. (I have to apologize for failing to get a shot of Lynda’s wonderful “Singing in the Rain” display. She had a song and dance and everything! Please don’t hate me. If someone else got a shot, send it along and I’ll post it separately.)
