Bavarian Apple Torte

From Susan Canada’s 2013 Christmas luncheon where it was paired with Cardamon Ice Cream.

Crust:

½ cup Butter
⅓ cup Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup Flour

  1. Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla & flour (slowly) until blended. Press into bottom of 8” springform pan OR you can make individual ones using cupcake papers as I did for the luncheon.

Filling:

8oz. Cream Cheese, at room temp.
¼ cup Sugar
½ tsp. Almond Extract
½ tsp. Vanilla
1 Egg

  1. Combine softened cream cheese in mixer with sugar until blended. Add egg and extracts. Pour into crust.

Topping:

⅓ cup Sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
4 cup Apples, peeled & sliced
½ cup Sliced Almonds
  1. Combine sugar and cinnamon and toss with apples. Spoon over cream cheese filling. Top with almonds.
  2. Bake at 425º for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 400 for about 20 – 25 minutes.
