Every season needs a decorated tree. You’ve seen those trees in people’s yards with plastic eggs hanging on them. Well, this is NOT your neighbor’s tree!
Easter comes but once a year, but one couple has turned it into a lifetime’s project. For more than 40 years, Volker and Christa Kraft of Saalfeld, Germany have decorated the tree in their back yard for Easter. The tree, as of 2010, was hung with more than 9,800 colorful Easter eggs, many of which are decorated with pastoral scenes and religious icons. They gotta be up to 10,000 by now!
The Kraft family has been at it for two generations. Now the grand children are adding to it. Each egg is hand decorated. As you can see they all are unique and have been painted, punched and crocheted on. The punched eggs are especially interesting.
Thanks to Nance for this fun find. Now get your PAAS out and get crackin’!
Holy Eggshells Batman!
Yeah but…. they have crocuses. I do not have the patience for making those eggs. But incredible!
