Environment & Conservation Chairperson

The Environment and Conservation Committee Chairperson keeps the membership informed of current environmental and conservation issues using monthly displays, informational handouts and special events.  The chairperson meets with the E&C committee to plan general meeting presentations, and then keeps a record of all presentations.  The chairperson encourages members to report to EAGC on individual efforts at conservation.

As a way to conserve, the E&C committee designs and distributes coffee mug cards which are punched at each general meeting.  Members are encouraged to bring their cards and a coffee mug each month.  Two raffle baskets are designed for the June luncheon to reward this effort.

If funded, the E&C chairperson, along with the committee, organizes, publicizes and awards recipients for the annual beautification mini-grants.  The application is updated on the website each year.  Applications are due April 1st; the committee meets and chooses recipients by April 15th; and checks are mailed by May 1st.  Those who are funded and those who are not need to be notified.  Funded gardens are visited and photographed in July for a presentation made at the September general meeting. 

Traditionally, the E&C committee has hosted a “Pot Swap” at a spring general meeting and an annual Promise Tree summertime event.

 The chair is expected to attend as many board meetings as possible during the club year.  Photos of displays or events and notice of upcoming programs will be sent to the webmaster for inclusion on the website.  The Environmental and Conservation budget is set by agreement between the board and the chair.
